Academia de Música de Santa Cecília

edificio1.jpg (20366 bytes)   Established in 1964 by the ambassadress Vera Franco Nogueira, in a small palace in Ameixoeira (Lisbon - Portugal), Saint Cecilia’s Musical Academy has been developing, since its foundation, a true innovating educational model in the Portuguese Educational System. And still today it is the only Integrated School that exists for the purpose that it was created.

Being a private school (non profitable), it has the official academical curricula (from kinder-garden to the secondary level) and, at the same time, it offers the official musical curricula, free of charges.

The advantages of this pedagogical model can be seen at an intellectual, artistic and personal level :

  • Favouring accuracy and inner discipline which is linked to concentration ;
  • Awakening sensibility and creativity ;
  • Promoting global and significative learning through knowledge integration and by encouraging the acomplishment of projects which easily become interdisciplinary and intercultural ;

To achieve success in both components (academical and musical) the Academy conceives Educative Projects based on its Idearium, focussing aims and operational procedures.
